OVERVIEW: The device you are reading this on is possible because of Moore’s Law. In 1965 Gordon E. Moore, co-founder of Intel, predicted that the number of transistors on a silicon semiconductor chip will double about every two years. This still holds true. Anything that computes today owes its existence to this universal truth and the chip — the thing inside a device that makes it go. Because of Moore’s Law, technology manufacturers have innovated at scale within a reliable ecosystem designed for decades of progress and improvement. Its hardwired into the global economy. It’s societal in scope. You and I have never-ending access to more powerful, faster, and affordable technologies that can do amazing things like connect you with friends, monitor and track your health, work from anywhere, get delivery of anything anywhere anytime. The challenge for Intel was that it was an ingredient product. The consumer was giving props to the cool device and not the awesome chip. How could we change this? The insight was that people do incredible things through technology. It’s what’s inside us that drives and motivates us as humans. What is true of humans is also true of technology, what’s inside is what matters most. Look inside became the global brand platform to tell inspiring stories, positioning Intel to become the driving force behind modern computing once again.
